Update: Charlie Kirk
Starting with an update on the search for the man responsible for Wednesday’s assassination of Charlie Kirk. The FBI has released images of the suspect, which is not in custody, despite FBI Director Kash Patel originally tweeting that a subject had been arrested almost immediately after the shooting, before having to turn around two hours later and say my bad. No no, he’d never admit he made a mistake.
He did, however, contradict the press conference of the local officials.
This is Patel’s first big moment as the head of the FBI and his lack of literally any training whatsoever is really coming to light here.
It’s almost like, and hear me out, we shouldn’t be hiring people without experience?
I’ll be curious to see how long people in the MAGA circles are going to let this go and, frankly, rightfully so. I don’t think they’d be so broken up about a botched FBI search if this wasn’t one of their own however I do still think their outrage is correct. A person was shot and killed – let’s all get on the same page. Let’s focus up and catch this person.
As expected – there’s a ton of misinformation out right now. We do know the rifle used by the shooter has been found. It does sound like there may be some engravings on the cartridges, but the information hasn’t been verified.
Information will come! No need to invent it until it does.
Meanwhile, President Let’s All Hold Hands, Wear Long Ties, and Unite as One told reporters, “We have radical left lunatics out there and we just have to beat the hell out of them.”
Later he added, in a separate statement, that Charlie Kirk was an advocate of nonviolence and “That’s the way I’d like to see people respond.”
Now, I can’t speak to whether that’s true of Kirk, and that’s definitely not in alignment with his previous statement (nor is it in alignment with many other things he’s said), but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.
To quote history’s greatest president: “we are a powder keg about to explode.” Already on Thursday there were hoax threats called into a series of HBCUs and bomb threats called into the DNC offices. It’s absolutely heinous.
And again, we still don’t know who carried out this crime. We don’t know their motive.
And yes, Trump is awarding Kirk with a posthumous Medal of Freedom. Yes, Veep Vance flew his casket to Kirk’s family on Air Force 2. Let them.
Don’t spin out. Don’t let that be the thing. They’re going to do this. Don’t let these details distract you from other things that deserve your energy.

Update: Colorado School Shooting

But of course, there was another shooting on Wednesday because this is America and there is an update there as well. In Wednesday’s Denver, Colorado shooting, the shooter was a 16-year-old student radicalized by a currently unspecified “extremist network.”
The suspect shot himself and died later in the day.
The other two students who were shot are both in critical condition.
Bolsonaro Convicted

In Brazil, former President Bolsonaro has been convicted of attempting to overturn the 2022 election, a plan that included assassinating the president-elect to stay in power. And even though his plan (luckily) failed, he was still sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison.
When asked for a comment, America said, “what? Sorry, I was playing video games. Did you say something?”
Contraceptives Destroyed

Here’s something that really made me see… I don’t know… whatever you see when you’re mad. I guess still the article, cause I was still reading it but like – I REALLY saw it!
At the direction of the Trump administration, about $9.7 million in birth control pills and IUDs that were meant for people in low-income countries were destroyed.
They’ve been in Belgium for months because the State Department decided they weren’t “lifesaving” because they UNDERSTAND NOTHING.
They understand nothing about a life that is saved by being able to make your own decision about your future. By being able to decide about your own body. Not to mention that, for many women, getting pregnant is literally deadly and so it is also medically lifesaving in the immediate.
But they understand nothing!
So $9.7 million in birth control products were destroyed. The Gates Foundation and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation actually offered to buy them off the government.
This would have cost the government nothing.
Instead, they spend $167k to destroy it all.
Please, I am begging you, I am begging this administration (I’m sure they’re listening. They’re big fans. This show is right up their alley!)… please ask people to read a book or two in their field they’re hired in before day one.

UK Hires Three Cats

And I can’t end this week on that. So here’s this…
The North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway Line (we’re all familiar) hired three new VIP employes: a trio of black kittens named Titch, Clinker, and Ash who were found hunting acorns for practice until they starting taking their skills out on the mice nearby.
Finding them to be highly qualified for the job, the trio were hired on the spot as mousers and… guest-charming.
Meow that’s what I call a good hire.

I’m proud of a lot of things. Cats that have jobs. Ruth that has no job but is in charge of me and that’s exhausting.
But more than every single thing that’s ever happened, or ever will happened. More than every person, place, or thing, because I’ll give you all the encouragement you need but you’re doing the very best of anyone’s best already… I’m proud of you.
