Title
Your Vote Is Your Business
Good morning! It’s Monday, November 2nd.
National Day Before Election Day… Day.
And now, the news.
A Very American Weekend
-via ABC7, ABC News, and The Guardian
We start how we start here in America. With at least 6 people dead and 42 injured after a weekend of mass shootings.
Starting with Alabama, where at least one person was killed and eight others were injured after a shooting after the Alabama A&M and Alabama State football game. Police recovered multiple guns at the scene.
Then moving to Texas, four people have been killed and fifteen others injured after THREE shootings in Dallas’ Deep Ellum. The shootings happened over the course of an hour and fifteen minutes, and police don’t know yet if the shootings are connected.
And in Delaware, six people were shot near the University of Delaware in Newark on Halloween night.
This is where my aunt and uncle live – they’re okay. But I say that because, at this point, nearly everyone in the country unfortunately has a connection to a mass shooting. I know Deep Ellum well, a friend of mine used to live there.
In Illinois, one person is dead, and seven others were injured, including one critically. In Fayetteville, Arkansas, six people were injured.
Both California and Michigan saw shootings at Spirit Halloween stores. The shooting in California was targeted and the victim was pregnant. Six others were injured. In Michigan, one person was killed.
As of this recording, there were NINE mass shootings between Friday and Sunday afternoon, bringing the total number of shootings for the year to 395. Today is the 306th day of the year.
Chris Murphy
-via AP News
Connecticut’s Senator Chris Murphy suffered a stroke on Saturday, but is “awake and alert,” according to his staff.
Murphy is 53.
I… don’t really have much for this story. Just, obviously sending good and healing thoughts out to the Senator and his family.
Palm Beach Plane Crash
-via CNN
A small plane, carrying nine people, crashed in Palm Beach Florida on Sunday, killing everyone on board.
The FCC will investigate, though it’s worth noting there were storms in the area and the plane flew through a strong storm cell before the crash. It’s not confirmed that weather contributed to the crash, but it’s certainly possible.
Judge Tosses DOJ Request

And finally, tomorrow is Election Day!
Big stuff!
Tomorrow is expected to be an absolute knock-out as the voters go to the polls and decide if they’ll hold the Republicans who have stood by and allowed the Trump administration to do fascism.
Because they know that the night is expected to go towards the Dems, instead of deciding – oh! Well then let me switch it up and try and do something the voters will like.
No.
Instead they just let Trump try and cheat them into a win.
Luckily, we still have courts and, aside from the Supremes, most judges want to rule on the side of, you know… the law.
Which is why, on Sunday, U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason threw out Trump’s attempt to toss the Alaskan Senate race results of the Republican losses.
Which… that’s just so funny. They really were like – if the Republican wins? That’s fine. If the Republican loses? CHEATING!
If I were a judge I would have tossed it for reasons of… come on. Are we being serious? What are this nonsense?
But I guess that’s why I’m not a judge.
Instead it was tossed because the judge didn’t know how the case could continue without preserving a voters right to keeping their vote private.
"The absence of any explanation from the United States as to how its requested relief could redress its alleged injury while simultaneously maintaining the secrecy of the ballot is telling."
Because your vote is your business.
In response to the decision, the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project president called the case: “a reckless waste of taxpayer money aimed at silencing hundreds of thousands of Alaska voters.”
And the Trump administration said… who cares? Who cares! I’m not going to repeat their lame response. All they wanted to do was cheat and so why would I repeat that.
Look here’s the deal. It’s the day before the election. You can cast your ballot today. Your vote is your business. It’s for you. For your future.
So shut everything out, all of the polls, all the headlines meant to distract you, and just focus on this one thing… tomorrow is election day. It’s filled with magic and possibility. It can be ANYTHING. Nothing gets decided until all of the votes (all of them) are counted.
And if something can be anything, how about we vote and act like the anything it’s going to be… is great.
Let’s have some fun!
That’s it. That’s the news.

One day left.
I’m proud of you.
