Good morning! It’s Wednesday, February 25th.

Inconvenience Yourself Day

Great. Mission accomplished. Frankly, at all turns.

And now, the news.

Washington State Murders

-via ABC News

Starting in Washington State, where four people are dead after a 32-year-old man, who was shot dead by a deputy responding to the scene, stabbed them outside of a residence around 9:30 in the morning on Tuesday.

This happened less than an hour after authorities got a call that the man had violated a protection order at the house. It turns out that the protection order hadn’t been served yet, and so authorities were going to get a copy of the order and serve it while they were there. As they were on the way to the house, they learned that the stabbing had taken place.

The relationships between everyone haven’t been made public yet.

DOJ Sues UCLA

-via AP News

On Tuesday, the Department of Justice announced that it has filed a suit against UCLA over allegations that it didn’t do enough to protect Jewish students during the pro-Palestine protests in 2023 and 2024.

Last year UCLA reached a $6M settlement with three Jewish students and a Jewish professor in their suit that that the university violated their civil rights when they allowed pro-Palestine protestors to block their access to class and other spots on campus.

So that suit was settled.

But now the DOJ is saying this “goes much deeper” than the settlement it addressed.

Here’s the thing…

Obviously, OBVIOUSLY – antisemitism? Bad.

But this administration is not the one. You know? Trump literally dines with Nazis. Elon Musk did a nazi salute when Trump was elected and they were like “no it’s just love from his heart.” Yeah… love of doing a nazi salute.

This administration has a proven track record of caring about this country’s political and financial relationship with Israel, but not with Jewish people.

Additionally, they are led by a white supremacist who is going to use this as an excuse to try and kick more Palestinians out of this country. And send them where? To Gaza? Which Trump is trying to turn into a giant casino, killing millions of Palestinians still left in Gaza in the process?

He’s going to put their lives in danger and then say it’s because he was protecting Jewish people.

That’s not helpful.

Meanwhile, he gets a twofer… assert power over a university, once again, and he’s probably going to use this as an excuse to kick non-white people out of the country. Or at least out of college. And if they’re here on student visas, dot dot dot

Again – antisemitism is bad. But using Jewish people as a way to hold universities hostage and cause harm to other people is also bad.

Multiple things can be bad.

Louvre Director Steps Down

-via NBC News

In “you hadn’t already?” news…

The director of the Louvre stepped down on Tuesday, four months after the silliest heist possible, which led to a $102 million theft.

France’s president Macron called this, “an act of responsibility .” Sure sure. Additional acts of responsibility include looking around the weird-shaped building to be like: hey. What’s that ladder doing leaning against it? And why are these guys with those disguises, where it’s glasses with a fake nose and mustache, tiptoeing out of this museum in black and white striped shirts while the Pink Panther music plays in the background?

That also would have been responsible.

But what do I know?

State of the Union

-via NPR

Trump gave his State of the Union on Tuesday.

He told a ton of lies. Was racist. Was annoying. His bruise is back. He slurred his words.

It was the longest State of the Union in history.

And… that’s good enough!

The thing about these speeches, at this point, is that they don’t make news beyond the news that they happened. He’s not doing anything real. He’s pretending everything is going great when it’s not. He’s pretending he’s doing everything right, when he’s not. He’s pretending all of this is the Democrats' fault when all the democrats have done is almost nothing, and all the republicans are doing is fascism. The “doing nothing” thing is annoying, but the fascism is fascism.

So instead of going beat by beat, instead let’s all go touch grass and while we’re out there… make sure our voter registration is updated.

I’m not going to carry water for this administration by repeating their lies here.

And that’s it. That’s the news.

The State of the Union was the big news and honestly, it’s like… why? Although I’ll say this… I found myself inconvenienced to be talking about it.

But more than that, obviously, because you’ve never inconvenienced me a day in your life… I’m proud of you!
