Hurricane Polo

Starting with weather on the tens and two (uh oh)
Hurricane Polo. No, not Marco. POLO.
Hurricane Polo is gaining strength, somehow, after turning into a Cat 5 storm on Tuesday morning. There is no Cat 6.
The hurricane currently has sustained winds of 180 mph and is the strongest storm on the entire planet this year. It’s all thanks to the super El Niño, which is all thanks to climate change, which is all thanks to the fact that we abused this earth, and then we were like “whoops! We should pull back and regulate this stuff.” And then we did, and it helped a little, but then Trump was like “oh, that’s costing my friends money” and then he undid those regulations and I’m not saying we couldn’t have global warming now if we hadn’t elected Trump. But I AM saying that it wouldn’t be so bad, we’d be more prepared, and we wouldn’t be so annoyed if we hadn’t elected him. Any of the times.
Turkish School Shooting

Moving to Turkey, where at least eleven people were injured, three critically, after a fifteen-year-old opened fire near a vocational and technical high school.
The 15-year-old, a literal child, was taken into custody, as were his parents and grandfather (it was his grandpa’s gun).
This is the third school shooting in Turkey this year. In April, the country was rocked by two days in a row of shootings. On the 14th, 19 were injured. On the 15th, nine students and one teacher were killed. As was the shooter… the shooter we either 13 or 14 years old.

And moving to an update on the investigation into the death of Nolan Wells, the 18-year-old Black teen who was last seen alive on an island off the Mississippi coast before his body was found two days later.
Despite the fact that the state’ own pathologist found two bruises on the back of his head, and an independent autopsy showed traces of blood and recent blunt force injuries to the back of his head and his back, and despite the fact that his friends wouldn’t give up Nolan’s phone (that’s right… he didn’t come back from the island but his phone did) without first deleting stuff on it, including pictures on Snapchat…
A grand jury will not pursue charges, saying they didn’t believe there was enough evidence to indict anyone with a crime.
Nolan’s parents’ lawyer responded, saying the state needs to continue to investigate.
Strong agree.
Trump + UN
The UN is here and Trump made his little big boy speech on Tuesday, where he said he’s got two choices… make a deal with Iran, or “annihilate the Islamic Republic,” adding, “It’s potential greatness or obliteration.”
Iran’s armed forces called his comments, “exploitation of the U.N.’s podium to legitimize aggression, insecurity and global banditry.”
Following his completely absurd comments, Iranian officials met with US officials for three hours.
The rest of the speech was a bunch of lies and just like… word salad. He said the US ended the war in Gaza. That’s a straight up lie. Hamas and the IDF are still fighting, while the government of Israel continues a genocide in the region. He literally said Gaza was stabilized.
That’s such an insulting and heinous lie.
On AI, he said the US will only encourage superintelligence. How about we start with the presidency? Why don’t you crack a book for once in your life?
I’m kidding, he’s read a book. Remember, he used to keep a book of Hitler’s speeches on his bedside table.
That’s real. That’s not a joke. That’s a book he’s read. And honestly, I’m not sure he’s read any others.
Cuban officials walked out when Trump started talking about Cuba, a country that Trump called an absolutely failed state and promised that the government will fall.
That’s what he wants. And the problems that Cuba’s having? MANY of them are caused by Trump’s sanctions.
“They don’t have enough lights, I don’t know what’s going on with Cuba.” Oh, well what’s going on is that your sanctions, plus your oil blockade, are blocking fuel supplies plus equipment that would allow the island to have pull power.
Trump also said that he believed Russia’s president Putin would be willing to meet with Ukraine’s president Zelenskyy, something that hasn’t happened in seven years, because apparently Putin wants the war to be over.
Yeah, I bet he does. But will Trump support Ukraine getting all of their land back? Because nothing can end until Russia returns the land it stole.
Finally, Trump, Denmark, and Greenland signed off on their security agreement that gives the US broad access to the air, allows a US military base to be expanded as well as allows for the possibility of more bases to be built there, in two places already noted and then if all three parties agree, others can be built.
It prevents non-NATO countries from being able to have a base there, it intensifies screening for foreign investment from non-NATO and non-EU members, and it has no expiration date (even if Greenland becomes independent from Denmark).
So… I guess that’ll placate Trump and now hopefully he won’t invade Greenland.
Vance Kicks 760k off ACA
Accusing them of fraud, Veep Vance kicked 760,000 Affordable Care Act enrollees from their plans.
315,000 were kicked off right away, with another 445,000 now being forced to go through additional screening.
Look, yes obviously someone who’s defrauding a system should be kicked out of it (that’s why I don’t think Trump should be president anymore. Dude’s a fraud!) but we’re talking about more than half a million people. Have you learned anything about this administration in the last year and a half? Do we really think that everyone kicked off their plan was doing fraud?
Or we do we think it’s possible that some of these people might have just lost their lifesaving medical care so that Veep Vance can look like a good little boi?
The truth is, we don’t know yet. We won’t know until people start reaching out to say: hey, help. I lost my insurance and now need to go through the process of getting it all over again.
And speaking of people who need the government’s support and didn’t get it…
Because the House didn’t want to take a vote on whether Defense Secretary Hegseth deserves to keep his job, they left on vacation early.
What did they leave on their desk on their way out the door?
The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act, a multibillion-dollar veterans benefits package that would have, among other things, allowed service members who retired from the military because of a combat-related disability to receive their full retirement pay. As it currently stands, their retirement is reduced dollar for dollar by their disability benefits.
Republicans said the cost of the bill should be covered by cutting back on disability compensation for future veterans with sleep apnea and tinnitus. Democrats said they wanted to fund the whole thing without those cuts.
Some Republicans agreed with the Dems, with Republican House Rep Jeff Van Drew saying: “It is wrong and unseemly to take benefits away from a certain number of vets for a different group of vets.”
Speaker Mikey J wanted the cuts, and so Dems and some Republicans forced a vote, going around Mikey to make it happ’n cap’n.
But low and behind, looks like the Hegseth vote wasn’t the only one they were afraid to take.
To now billions in benefits to veterans will be left on the table because a party that pretends like they’re the only ones in the world that care about vets was too afraid to take a vote on something that would have benefited them.
Think about that when you go to the polls this November.

Hey, because of this media blackout (caused by Trump kicked the media out and others refusing to air footage in solidarity of what is normally their competition) Trump decided now would be the perfect time to launch Trump TV. Which, honestly, is his dream.
“Trump TV: The Essentials Station,” is a 24-hour YouTube livestream… you know… like fascists do!
It currently only has 3.25 million subscribers and I just turned it on, just to see (look at how much I do for you) and just about 1,300 people were watching.
Huh. I guess he’s not as popular as he thinks.
Just in case you’re wondering about those 3.25 million… MrBeast has 518 million subscriptions and a channel called SurpriseToys, which hands opening surprise toy eggs, has 8 million subscriptions.
So… not great numbers little guy!
Anyway… I’m proud of… well it’s the first full day of fall and because you’re just as cozy and delightful… I’m proud of you.
