Starting of course with an update on things here in LA.
They bad!
They are straight up not good!
Not us! We didn’t do the bad! Los Angeles does not want this. We do not want this chaos. We didn’t ask for any of this.
We did not seek this out.
Sunday night saw most protests breaking up, as police declared the protest an unlawful assembly.
An Australian reporter was shot with a rubber bullet.
Just after midnight in DC, Trump, who apparently has no bedtime or screentime limits, posted “Looking really bad in L.A. BRING IN THE TROOPS!!!” Three minutes later, he posted, “ARREST THE PEOPLE IN FACE MASKS, NOW!”
These are not directives. They are literally no different than when I post about wanting Kelly Clarkson to release the full version of all her covers on Spotify. Passionate, sure. But they don’t care any actual weight.
You have a First Amendment right to protest in a mask.
Also, the protestors are wearing masks to protect themselves from smoke bombs and pepper spray. Meanwhile, ICE agents are wearing full on masks because what they are doing is shameful and they don’t want people to see their faces. See the difference?
In a statement shared Sunday night, the city of Glendale announced it was formally terminating its limited agreement with Homeland Security and ICE.
The agreement had been in place since 2007 and allowed local police departments to house immigrant detainees.
As expected, on Monday morning, the state filed a suit against the administration for sending in the National Guard against the governor's wishes.
Also on Monday morning, after Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, said Newsom was late in responding to the protests, Newsom responded in an interview with, “Come after me, arrest me, let’s just get it over with, tough guy.”
To which Trump replied, “I would do it if I were Tom. I think it’s great.”
SEUI president David Huerta has been released from jail after being charged with conspiring to impede an officer.
Monday afternoon, the Pentagon announced the deployment of 700 Marines to Los Angeles to protect federal personnel and property during the protests.
The Pentagon is currently drafting a memo regarding what the Marines can and cannot do during this deployment. LAPD says they have not coordinated this deployment with them.
Like the National Guard, they are prohibited from performing law enforcement duties.
Speaking of the National Guard - Trump has authorized 2,000 more troops to come to Los Angeles. Those troops may take a day or two to arrive.
Using no evidence, just vibes, Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem said the protestors in LA are being paid and it’s a professional operation.
Obviously that’s a lie.
They do it for free!
Protests have broken out around the country in support of LA and against ICE.
Israel Intercepts Aid Boat

Monday also saw some wild international news, as a ship headed to Gaza with aid, and about a dozen people, including a member of European Parliament and famed activist Greta Thunberg, were intercepted by Israel.
We know this because she released a prerecorded video that said if the video was being seen, the boat had been intercepted and she had been “kidnapped” by the Israeli military.
The ship left from Sicily on June 1st, and at that time, Israel said they would not allow the ship to deliver the aid into Gaza.
As of this recording, the ship’s passengers are still presumed to be in Israel, though Israel says it will return the passengers back from whence they came.
RFK Jr Kicks CDC Out

Adding to a day of big headlines because sure – why not?
On Monday, Health Secretary RFK Jr (cursed sentence) removed every single person on the scientific committee that advises the CDC on how to use vaccines.
Fear not – he will replace them with his own picks.
Oh shoot, sorry. Read that wrong.
Fear lots – he will replace them with his own picks.
Maybe the brain worm will be one. Maybe the five brain worms he once offered to eat in order to get onto a debate stage will be some.
Of this move, he said: “A clean sweep is needed to re-establish public confidence in vaccine science.”
I, um… that’s not… this has the opposite effect for me, my guy.
Sounds like we’ll find out who this new committee is in about two weeks. I’m sure they’ll be super open to vaccines. For sure for sure for sure.
Judge Dismisses Baldoni Suit

A judge on Monday has tossed out actor/director Justin Baldoni’s $400 million suit defamation and extortion against Blake Lively. There is a link in show notes.
I have chosen to not care about this.
