Good morning! It’s Thursday, June 26th.

National Work From Home Day

You’re telling me!

I’m in Cholula pants! These are my daytime pants. Follow me for more tips and tricks.

And now, the news.

NATO Summit

-via AP News and The Hill

Starting with the NATO summit!

Where Trump started strong! When asked whether the United States would abide by the mutual defense guarantees that are literally in the NATO treaty, he told reporters… “depends on your definition.”

I would say the normal one, guy.

He added - “There’s numerous definitions of Article 5. You know that, right? But I’m committed to being their friends.”

Committed to friendship after being in a committed relationship for decades. That’s gotta feel good. Anyway, he doesn’t actually know what he’s talking about and I think that’s also a neat thing about having Donald Trump for a president.

After pressure from Trump, Nato leaders have agreed to a 5% defense spending increase, which he’s taking as a big win.

As of this recording, he has not met with President Zelensky.

A few things he did do on his flight over to the summit… these are real… he took to his Truth Social website and…

Posted about Zahran Mamdami, who won New York’s mayoral primary on Tuesday night (see? I told you we’d cover it!) to say he’s not good looking and that his voice is grading. Yeah… that’s real

He also said one of the CNN anchors should be fired for posting the report that the Saturday bombing of Iran only set their nuclear program back about three months.

And… here we go, worst of all… after spending all this time calling for a ceasefire, and while the ceasefire was peak fragile… this dude posted a video.

You know the Beach Boys song Barbara Ann. Bar, bar, bar, bar, Barbara Ann

You got that beat?

Bomb bomb bomb. Bomb bomb Iran.

And it’s his voice.

And then there are other lyrics too about putting the Ayatollah in a box.

And it’s not even specific about the nuclear program! It’s just… the country of Iran! Where more than 90 million people live.

The President of the United States.

And I know we don’t expect anything better.

But come on.

Bad dude.

Trump is meant to meet with the leaders of Iran next week

Heat Wave

-via CBS News

From Louisiana to Maine, more than 128 million Americans are under heat advisories, and high temporatures are breaking records all over the countries.

Good news, it does sound like there may be some relief headed that way, starting today.

In New York, US Senator Chuck Schumer was taken to the hospital after he experienced some lightheadedness while at the gym Wednesday morning.

Charles! Please drink water. I don’t know if you’re watching the news but, uh… we need all the democrats in Congress that we can get, good sir.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia

-via CNN

Things remain in flux for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who has been returned to the states after a paperwork error sent him to the El Salvadorian torture prison and then once the Trump administration realized the error they were like eh, he’s all the way over there and I know it was technically a mistake but on the other hand he is not white so I’m sure that’s gotta be some sort of crime… let’s leave him there

He was sent back here but was immediately jailed here on human smuggling charges.

But, confusingly, though he is a legal permanent resident here in the United States, he was detained by ICE.

aka Immigration and Customs Enforcement

But… legal. Legal permanent resident.

So it’s possible that an order could come as early as tomorrow that will decide whether Abrego Garcia can be detained while he awaits trial.

ICE Raids

-via Miami Herald, Nashville Banner, Yahoo, and The Guardian

And since we’re talking about ICE, here are a few stories that I haven’t seen covered in other places, but definitely need to be talked about

In Florida, ICE raids are now taking place in state-funded children’s shelters.

Agents are literally standing outside waiting for parents to visit their children, and then, when they show up, they take them away.

In Nashville last month, a woman was arrested and sent to an ICE facility while she was between four and five months pregnant. She was not given the nutrients she needed, said she often felt like she was starving. She was stressed, transferred facilities often, slept on the floor a few times, and was never given medical attention.

She repeatedly asked for an ultrasound, which she was always denied. She begged doctors to take her to the hospital, but they dismissed her pain and said it was normal.

She begged for help for three days before she was hospitalized and doctors told her that he baby died due to a lack of prenatal care.

In Baton Rouge, a woman who was still breastfeeding her three-month-old baby has been detained by ICE. Leaving her three-month-old and eighteen-month-old with her Marine Corps vet husband. Wife of a veteran! Still breastfeeding!

She came here seeking asylum. They got married last year and she applied for her green card but got picked up at her green card meeting because her mother, who she hasn’t spoken to in years, missed an immigration appointment.

Picked up at a green card meeting.

What do you want?

Gotta come the right way. Gotta come the right way.

What do you think a green card is?

Meanwhile, AG Pam Bondi really went in front of Congress yesterday to say she was unaware of ICE agents wearing masks while they were doing these roundups.

Baby, I don’t think they even have noses, for high up those masks are. That’s a straight-up lie. Everyone knows they wear masks. She also knows this because in that same hearing, she said, “Their families are being threatened.”

And I do believe that. And I do believe that’s wrong.

But I would like to direct your attention to those stories above.

Maybe, Pamela, we can start thinking about everyone’s families, instead of just those 100 million that Stephen Miller wants.

Here’s the thing… if this is your deal. If this is where you want to work. Okay… don’t be shy. Take your mask off. Say it with your chest. If you’re embarrassed, maybe it’s time to do a little self-examination.

Just a thought. Just a little Kim thought.

And that’s it. That’s the news.

Hey you wanna hear something funny? And Trump dropped an F bomb, little buddy Veep Vance went out and made a joke about how “pink-haired people” are always flipped people off and then he actually did it. He flipped the bird. I don’t know why I think that’s so funny… these people are so absolutely lame. Stop doing this. You are the president and Vice President! But I also think he did it because Trump cussed.

Ugh anyway.

Because you are an original and don’t need anyone’s permission to cuss or flip anyone off… I’m proud of you.
