Good morning! It’s Wednesday, June 25th.

Global Beatles Day

Huh. I thought that was Yesterday.

…I’ll give you a minute.

And now, the news.

And now, the news.

Israel/Iran

-via AP News, NY Times,

Starting with things in Israel and Iran where guess what? We still don’t have clarity on that ceasefire. Neat!

Here’s what it sounds like.

It sounds like the adults in the room, who were like and I guess Donald Trump can be here too, were working on a ceasefire. Then Trump got frustrated and preemptively posted that the ceasefire was settled. Thus just, you know… hoping! Hoping that it would happen.

It was meant to start at 4am local time. Both the governments of Israel and Iran said I will if you will and then 4am saw a couple minutes of no fire, and like 4:03am saw fire.

Now, as a Tuesday evening Los Angeles time, which is when I’m recording this, there is a wildly unstable ceasefire fire that is currently holding. All we can do right now is hope that continues to hold. Because while Trump is posting his little knockoff twitter posts and playing games… these are real lives at stake. Millions of lives.

Trump apparently was so mad that the ceasefire hadn’t happened post his like Monday night manifestation that he dropped an F-bomb and let me tell you – the news was very upset.

Yeah, I’d be upset too if I was dumb enough to go on NBC News and say, “I think the ceasefire is unlimited. It’s going to go forever.” And then add that he doesn’t think the two countries, “will ever be shooting at each other again.”

Have a thought. Just one. Even on accident. You moron.

Anyway, whatever, everyone seemed shocked that he said the f-word, but like… he was found liable for sexual assault, so let’s have a little perspective here.

Remember when he posted, “Vladamir stop!”

He’s not a good president!

We also learned on Tuesday that it sounds like those Saturday “completely and fully obliterated” strikes only set Iran’s nuclear program back about three months.

He will learn nothing from any of this.

The White House obviously called it “flat-out wrong.”

But, on the plus side, a US official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told the AP that Trump spoke with Netanyahu and said the United States had no desire to be further involved with the situation militarily.

You’re telling me!

No Impeachment

-via Axios

Quick update about that impeachment idea that AOC floated over the weekend. Remember when I was like that’ll go about as far as me saying it?

It’s true. And AOC, who will run for president one day, knows it. Which is why she didn’t file the paperwork. However, on Tuesday, House Rep. Al Green, a Democrat from Texas, did. House Democrats voted overwhelmingly with the Republicans to kill the bill, which is politically the right thing to do (it was never going to pass anyway, and now is not the time to play games like this. That’s all this would be. Look – he’s the worst president we’ve ever had. But he did insurrection and didn’t get kicked out of office. Do you really think he’s going to get impeached for this? If only wishing made it so, ya know?

It was the right thing to do, it was the right thing to put it out there and say he should have done this, and it was the right thing to not let it go any further than that.

Anyway, just thought you should know it happened.

Get caught trying, I guess.

Russia/Ukraine

-via BBC

While all eyes are on Iran, at least 17 people were killed and more than another 100 were injured in Ukraine on Tuesday when Russian missiles struck schools, hospitals, and a passenger train.

It happened right as Ukraine’s President Zelensky arrived in the Hague for the Nato summit, where he is expected to speak with Trump. Last week, when he was supposed to speak with Trump at the G7 summit in Canada, Russia hit Kyiv with strikes for more than 9 hours with strikes that killed at least 30 people.

It’s believed that the timing of these strikes is meant to sabotage peace talks.

Okay but what if Trump just manifests peace?

ICE Arrests

-via CBS News

Thanks to data obtained exclusively by CBS News, we now know that ICE is holding about 59,000 detainees in facilities all around the country, setting a record high (which you know those monsters in the White House love to hear!), and putting the centers well over capacity.

Worse, 47% of those arrested have no criminal record. Not that they care.

Because there are not enough beds to house everyone being kidnapped in these ICE raids, the administration has asked Congress for billions in extra ICE funding to expand detention levels by tens of thousands of beds.

Ever the helper, Kristi Noem said Florida would receive federal funds to set up one of those facilities in the Everglades. It currently has a fun little nickname already… dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz."

Yikes.

Called that obviously because it’s surrounded by alligators. But also pythons. And apparently the setup will mostly involve “heavy-duty tent” and trailer facilities. Hey, I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Florida, but in addition to the apex predators that will surround this place, it’s dangerously hot. How well do we expect air conditioning to work in these tents?

And that’s it. That’s the news.

Hey, the Sean Combs prosecution and defense rested on Tuesday. No witnesses were called for the defense. What’s the defense gonna be, ya know? So, that’s news, I guess, but I’ll talk about it when there’s a result.

I’m proud of the Beatles. Hey you know what’s a good movie? Yesterday. I really liked it. I might watch it tonight. But more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow… I’m proud of you.
