Good morning! It’s Tuesday, August 5th.
Blogger Day.
Nerds! Whatdoyado? Sit around? Writing all your thoughts and feelings for free? Put them out into the world? For free?
That would be… so lame…
…
And now, the news.
Duel Manhunts
Starting with DUEL manhunts. That’s right – TWO.
Starting in Montana, where the man who shot all four people in the bar that he lived next door to on Friday before escaping into the unknown is still… in the unknown.
No real update there. Officials have upped the reward for information on his whereabouts from $7,500 to $10,000.
And in Tennessee, the search continues for 28-year-old Austin Robert Drummond who has been accused of killing four family members and leaving the baby of two of the victims in a car in a random driveway.
Investigators do not believe this quadruple murder to be random, but don’t yet know (or at least haven’t released) how Drummond is connected to the victims. Three people have already been arrested with being accessories to the murder, including tampering with evidence, drug possession, and accessory after the fact.
There is a $17,500 reward for information that leads to his capture. Authorities believe he is still in the area and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Bondi Directs Obama Investigation
And speaking of armed and dangerous… President Obama.
Not really, but I just wanted the segue. What a joke. We love comedy!
On Monday, AG Pam Bondi directed federal prosecutors to launch a grand jury investigation into the accusations that members of the Obama administration manufactured intelligence about Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.
I can’t even get through this one with a straight face.
Don’t get me wrong – this one’s pretty bad!
Not amazing! Because we should not be launching investigations at our political enemies. But this is so insane.
There is no truth to this!
Here is how this happened. No wait, hang on. Here’s what Bondi is alleging:
She is basically taking what Tulsi Gabbard said as the truth and alleges that, yes okay Russia did interfere in the 2016 election, but the Obama administration committed treasonous conspiracy to do a coup against Trump.
If you’re confused – lean into that feeling. It doesn’t make any sense.
Yes, as they themselves already admit – Russia did interfere in the election. They hacked the DNC. Remember when Trump went out and asked Russia to find Hillary’s emails on or around the day that Russia hacked her accounts? Remember that? Flames on the side of my face.
But hacking email servers and hacking voting machines are different. Obama literally came out and said that Russia did not hack the voting machines.
So they’re investigating him for nothing.
Gabbard originally came out with this because Pam Bondi won’t release the Epstein files, Gabbard saw an opening for Trump’s most favorite and pitched this distraction.
But there’s not one ounce of quit in Bondi (if only!) and so now she’s backing this absolutely insane waste of time and money.
Because investigate all you want but there is no there, there.
But they’re going to use this to say Obama is a criminal and try and relitigate the 2016 election. Which Trump won! He won that election! And he still can’t get over it. He can’t stop calling it rigged.
It’s almost like, hear me out… maybe he tried to rig the election, perhaps by doing something like getting Russia to hack email servers and sew distrust in our system and make Hillary look bad, and by doing that he expected to win the popular vote as well but instead he only just barely won the election, and definitely not the popular vote and so the rigging that he thinks happened is coming from inside the house.
If Obama did this, don’t you think Trump’s Republican trifecta (GOP House and Senate) for the first two years of his first term) could have investigated it then? If he was so worried about this terrible coup that was happening?
It wasn’t a coup. It was public dissent. Ya dunce.
Texas Democrats Hold Strong
-via Texas Tribune
Monday saw the Texas House Democrats holding strong in their move to block Republicans from redrawing a congressional map that would give Republicans an advantage in the House. Maps get drawn every ten years, based on the census, but Texas Republicans are attempting to do it now because Trump asked them to in an effort to increase their lead in the House.
They left on Sunday.
On Monday, Governor Abbott gave them until 3PM to return. When they didn’t, the state House (filled with Republicans) voted to basically track down and arrest the 62 democratic state House members who weren’t there when the chamber gaveled into action. Upon the vote passing, the Speaker said he would immediately sign civil warrants for each of the democrats, giving the chamber’s sergeant-at-arms and state troopers the power to arrest them and bring them to the Capitol
Okay babe.
These are not civil or criminal charges. And as for that tracking down part… the democrats left the state, and these warrants don’t extend past the border.
It’s all symbolic and they know it.
The dems will face a $500 per day fine for each day they miss. Governor Abbott says if they do any fundraising for those fines, that could be illegal – though he failed at the time to note which law that would be break and how exactly funds raised would be tracked, since politicians are always fundraising.
He also said that if they didn’t return to Texas by 3PM on Monday, he would begin the legal process to have their seats declared vacant, a truly unprecedented, and likely legally futile effort.
But if there’s one thing Greg Abbott is going to do… it’s the be the worst possible option for Texas at all times.
If there’s two things he’s going to do… the other one is run his mouth without knowing enough to back it up.
So in summary – the House dems are standing on business, the House republicans are grasping at straws, and Greg Abbott is doing nothing.
Normal day in Texas.
And that’s it. That’s the news.
I’m proud of… Texas democrats. Again. Always. Evergreen.
Bloggers.
But not all bloggers because some bloggers become podcasters and some podcasters become Joe Rogans and other really bad podcasters and we don’t stay proud of them.
But more than that. Because I never have to worry that suddenly you’re going to change and be something we have to worry about… I’m proud of you.
