Good morning! It’s Monday, February 9th.
National Pizza Day
Well ain’t that a slice?
…I don’t know. I think that’s a saying?
And now, the news.
The President of the United States is a White Supremacist.
-via ABC News
Starting with this… hey, you know how I keep saying that the president is a white supremacist? How he is doing white supremacist acts? How he says white supremacist things?
Well, on Thursday night, Donald Trump, the president of the United States, posted a video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.
Apparently, the video started with information about how the 2020 election was stolen, and then it ended with this awful, abhorrent, racist clip. It’s been taken down now, so I haven’t seen the video he posted.
But the clip it ended with, which Trump claims he never saw, but come on… was originally shared on Facebook in October by the Hardin County Republican Party of Kentucky. That led to Bobbie Coleman, the chair of the Hardin County Republican Party of Kentucky, to step down.
Trump, meanwhile, posted this video, and first of all, Karolinne Leavitt thinks we need to cool it with our fake outrage, while Trump says he has nothing to apologize for because he claims to have only watched the first part of the video.
Here’s the thing… this is not the proof of Trump’s racism. It came decades ago, when he and his father refused to rent to Black and Puerto Rican tenants. It came the day he announced his first bid for the presidency, when he called people coming from Mexico rapists and criminals. It came when he said Haitian immigrants in Ohio were eating cats and dogs.
And it came when he implemented the travel ban on day one. His “zero tolerance” policy ripped families apart, leading to criminal prosecution for adult who crossed the border illegally – a crime no more severe than a traffic ticket. He’s dismantled the pathway to legal citizenship, rolled back fair housing guidelines, and banned DEI…
It’s every day. In new policies.
The president of the United States is a white supremacist.
The video he posted is not a surprise. It’s not the final straw (though for those it is, welcome. We got a big ole tent and we’re happy to have you here). It’s just another piece of evidence.
The only thing this video does is allow no further questions on the topic.
Epstein Files
-via AP News, Politico, and The Hill
As the Epstein files continue to be reviewed, the AP reviewed internal DOJ files and found that the FBI had plenty of evidence that Epstein was abusing underage girls; they found little evidence that he was running a sex trafficking ring.
Keep in mind that there are still millions of pages being looked over, and the DOJ hasn’t even released everything, but that is what the evidence currently shows.
Meanwhile, the Clintons are set to be deposed at the end of the month. House Oversight Chair James Comer has asked for a closed-door hearing. In response, Bill Clinton’s office sent out a blast asking recipients to call Comer’s office and ask him why this deposition is happening behind closed doors.
Hillary, on the other hand, chose violence. She took to Twitter and wrote: “For six months, we engaged Republicans on the Oversight Committee in good faith. We told them what we know, under oath. They ignored all of it. They moved the goalposts and turned accountability into an exercise in distraction. So, let’s stop the games. If you want this fight, James Comer, let’s have it—in public. You love to talk about transparency. There’s nothing more transparent than a public hearing, cameras on. We will be there.”
So you kinda have to ask yourself… what does James Comer know, that the Clintons also know, that Comer wants to hide?
The Clintons are done in politics. They know that. Who is James Comer trying to protect with a closed-door hearing?
Trump, for his part, is very upset about the way his very good friend Bill Clinton is being treated. On Wednesday he told NBC Nightly News, “It bothers me that somebody’s going after Bill Clinton. See, I like Bill Clinton. I still like Bill Clinton.” He went on to add:
“I hate to see it in many ways. But then I look at me. They went after me. They wanted me to go to jail for the rest of my life and it turned out I was innocent. I shouldn’t feel this way but I feel badly that they have to go through that.”
What’s it like in that horrible brain of his? Just cobwebs and pictures of himself, I guess.
Nancy Guthrie
-via CNN
Unfortunately, there’s not much of an update in the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing for more than a week now.
A random note sent to media stations has demanded $6 million by 5pm Eastern today. The Guthrie family has said they are willing to pay the ransom.
There are still no named suspects. Law enforcement did, however, go back to Savannah’s sister Annie’s house on Saturday and search it, again, for three hours. It appeared they were taking pictures in the house with the shades drawn and left with one bag of items.
And that’s it. That’s the news.
Shorter episode because hey, did you know there are germs? This is the longest I’ve been awake all weekend.
You will be able to watch all these episodes this week with your ears only. No watching with your eyes.
I’m proud of pizza and cold medicine. But more than a pizza-flavored cold medicine, because you don’t sound disgusting… I’m proud of you!
